Reflections a year on.....

For most people 2020 and 2021 will be etched in our psyche as ones we will either want to forget or appreciate them for the push it gave us to move outside our comfort zone. For me it’s mostly about the latter.

I can’t believe that I’m now one year into moving outside my comfort zone in my journey as a solopreneur.

In some ways the journey has just begun but it has been an incredible one so far. It has been an amazing year of learning, both about myself and about the kindness of other people.

It’s been a year of being open to trying new things, being more vulnerable and asking for help.

In this blog, I share my reflections and top tips for anyone starting out on their journey outside their comfort zone.

1.   People are amazing and only too willing to help

Whether it’s my clients, family, friends or network contacts, I’ve been bowled over by the kindness and support across the board.

My clients have really stepped out of their comfort zone and put their trust in me to support them on their transformation journey. My friends, family and contacts listened to me rabbiting on about my ideas, shared my details with their contacts, offered their services for free or shared their own learnings and experiences. All were massively important to me – so thank you one and all.

2.   You have to ‘get over yourself’ and just do it!

There’s so much for me in this statement. I learned that I needed to forget everything I knew so far and put my trust in others. I ‘got over myself’ in so many ways from posting content on social media – especially on video (agh it will never be easy!) to being more open about myself, being willing to try new things and to letting things go even when I’m not 100% happy with them. But I also learned that once I did ‘get over’ myself things weren’t as hard as I thought they might be.

3.   ‘Where the focus goes the energy flows’

This Tony Robbins quote was a special mantra on my previous team and one that I have held close to my heart all year. I have learned that I need to focus my energy in chunks and try to avoid mindless scrolling that brings me down rabbit holes! I have learned that it's time well spent understanding who my ideal client is and focusing in on what I can do to support them. I have also learned that sticking to this mantra reminds me to put structure on my time, work towards my goals and the never ending 'to do' lists.

As the great Gerry Hussey says in his book ‘Awaken Your Power Within’:

Having the ability to identify where you want to focus your energy and which things you will detach from is a really powerful way of claiming back your inner power and taking back your ability to manifest the life you dream of having and the person you dream of becoming
— Gerry Hussey

Thank you so much to everyone who has been with me on my journey so far. Here’s looking forward to 2022 and another year of learning to live outside my comfort zone.
